This year, 2020, the Scorpio New Moon is November 15th at 12.07 am EST, 05.07 in Europe. Those of you who’ve been in practice with me on The Kindest Revolution website, will be very well acquainted with the rhythms of the energy [more below]. But for me, the annual Scorpio New Moon has special significance; it’s experienced as Scorpio energy in the Western world, but in the East it is Diwali, Libra energy—festival of light and celebration of the Goddess Laxmi [Lakshmi] or Venus…“light out of darkness”. For me personally as a teacher of Ancient Wisdom Path practices to freedom, it is New Year. Read on for the energy of this year’s Scorpio New Moon, and New Moon Phase.
Scorpio New Moon: What’s missing?
This New Moon cycle is an opportune time for exploring what is missing in our lives that leads us to engage in self-destructive behaviors. We work on our self-mastery skills, and practice helps, pinpointing those things that make us feel out of control, such as addictions and debts, and work on freeing ourselves of these emotional burdens: emotional freedom.
Emotional freedom is about ridding ourselves of “junk” in our lives–material and spiritual. With this potent Scorpio energy, we have the chance to make important changes in our lives. So, what is missing and can we fill the gap spiritually? One of Scorpio’s valuable “lessons” involves learning to dig deeper into the mysteries around us instead of always being content with the status quo—
“Understanding others’ motives can enrich our feelings of intimacy, forgiveness, and meaning. Dedication to one meaningful relationship or undertaking can be significantly more satisfying than spreading ourselves around: quality over quantity is a rich and satisfying experience. Focus on one special project or relationship enriches our purpose-ful-ness.”
The weeks ahead of this New Moon are good for focusing on some of the constructive traits of the sign of the Scorpion–passionate, resourceful, focused, probing, deep, and perceptive–and consider how to positively develop and incorporate these qualities into our lives.
This phase of the Moon occurs at 23 degrees and 18 minutes of Scorpio. This New Moon harmonizes with Jupiter, Neptune, and Pluto: marking the beginning of a new cycle, presenting an opportune time to commit to personal goals that express the positive energies of the sign of the Scorpion.
New Moon Energies: Inspiration for Creative Renewal
“In our inner realms the significance and symbolism is a death and rebirth . . . and it can affect us as a crisis of consciousness.”
The New Moon phase in our Lunar cycle has special significance: the phase itself can last over a 2 day period with the moon being exactly new after the start of the phase. In our inner realms the significance and symbolism is a death and rebirth . . . and it can affect us as a crisis of consciousness.
These are the rhythms:
Just before the New Moon we come out of the Seeding phase— we’re entering the Sprouting phase of the new cycle: we enter a 7 day Inspirational Quarter phase.
Our energy has the quality of surrender and we need to get playful. We can go into a kind of crisis of consciousness and a need for inner and physical purging. It’s a letting go, an emptying for the new theme to be created . . . we become the clear vessel.
In our daily practice, just before the Moon is exactly new we “empty the cup” in practice dedication: Nothing more can fill us up [meaning new inspiration] until we’ve become the clear vessel energetically.
Just after the New Moon we enter the Sprouting Phase and this is the time for expressing a new theme . . . and a new idea or concept can sprout.
In our daily practice, just after the Moon is new and during New Moon phase we use deep inner listening for the new ideas that will inspire creative change in our lives this week. We check into our hearts—there’s a short practice below with Heart Chakra breathing and Deep Inner Listening, to listen for the way forward your heart wants as we are receptive to Divine energies inspiring us.
A time for emptying and dedication
